Working With OmniFocus

A repository of videos about OmniFocus

There’s no right way to use OmniFocus

Working With OmniFocus is now an extensive video series.

When you have a tool as powerful as OmniFocus, it’s easy to get lost in all the details. But adopting someone else’s structure rarely works as a pure copy-paste. You have to understand how you work and then apply that to your setup.

Hello! I’m Joe Buhlig and I created Working With OmniFocus to walk you through my setup and help you understand the “why” behind my decisions. My hope is that seeing the rationale behind my structure will give you ideas and help you create your unique workflows surrounding OmniFocus.

Joe Buhlig thoughtfully guides you through the process of effectively configuring and using OmniFocus, using his own system as a backdrop. He encourages you to design a system that is a reflection of your life and work, drawing inspiration from setups and workflows that he and others have showcased. In addition to sharing his preferred contexts, perspectives and folder structure, Joe takes you through the basics and introduces advanced Mac and iOS techniques that emphasize efficiency and convenience.

Joe’s practical approach to system design combined with his down-to-earth demeanour makes this an engaging learning journey. I’ve employed several of his workflow suggestions and benefit daily from what he shares in Working with OmniFocus.

Over five hours of video

There’s a lot to cover with a powerful program like OmniFocus. Add in the ability to extend and augment the application with URL Schemes and AppleScripts and the options are endless.

40% more content over the book

As I reviewed the videos I realized I cover a lot more territory than originally included in the book. There’s now more depth and new areas covered.

The original book

I’m not planning to update it, but the original book is included. You can find it at the bottom of the list of videos.

Keep track of videos watched

You need to know where you’ve been. Each video has the ability to mark it as watched and see that status from the video list.

Request an AppleScript

It’s no secret that I love augmenting OmniFocus with my scripts. As part of your membership you’ll have the ability to request a script be written. No promises, but I’ll do my best.

This is an evolving video series. As a member, if there’s an area you want to see covered that isn’t already, you can suggest the new topic.
